Mšeno dam in Jablonec nad Nisou
The city of Jablonec nad Nisou has the biggest water dam in the middle of Europe. The Mšeno water dam in Jablonec nad Nisou was built in 1906-1909. The capacity is 3,058 m3 of water. This dam ranks among other water dams, great architectual work of famous engineer Professor dr.ing.Otto Intze from Cách. The dam was built on the bedrock in which there is a beton body. Other 5 water dams in Jizera mountains were built in the similar architectual style in the beginning of the 20th century: Mšeno-Jablonec nad Nisou-Mšenský potok, Bedřichov-Jizerské hory-Černá Nisa, Fojtka-Liberec-Lužická Nisa, Harcov-Liberec-Harcovský potok.
In autumn 1998 the dam was sew and the bedrock needed reconstruction, the following year the dam was sewed again in order to be cleaned. The dam in Jablonec nad Nisou is a real attraction for many tourists as well as for the locals. It is famous for its cleanness.
